On 20 January 2026, a working meeting was held between the Director of the State Civil Aviation Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a range of current issues of mutual professional interest and identified priority areas for further cooperation in the field of civil aviation. The State Civil Aviation Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic informed the EU side about the measures being implemented to improve the regulatory and legal framework, strengthen organizational mechanisms of state oversight, including the updating of inspection and certification procedures, as well as enhancing the qualifications of inspectors.  Particular attention was paid to the issue of the Kyrgyz Republic’s inclusion in the European Union Air Safety List. The Director of the Agency presented information on the process of removing the Kyrgyz Republic from this list, which provides for restrictions on air carriers certified in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as on the progress of measures being implemented to address the identified deficiencies. It was also noted that certification of all air transport operators is currently underway in order to ensure compliance with the updated requirements of the Air Code of the Kyrgyz Republic and other subordinate regulatory legal acts. currently underway to ensure full compliance with the updated requirements of the Air Code of the Kyrgyz Republic and relevant subordinate regulatory legal acts. The parties agreed on the importance of developing bilateral professional cooperation in the aviation sector with European countries, including the exchange of experience and technical information on flight safety issues.  In addition, the Agency proposed to consider the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) in order to develop cooperation in the field of air navigation and enhance the level of flight safety. The meeting was attended by Rémi Duflot, Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic.
