On January 29, 2025, an official ICAO document was signed by Daniyar Kuvatbekovich Bostonov, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Mr. Nicolas Rallo, Regional Director of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for Europe and the North Atlantic.
This document outlines the terms and conditions for participation in the ICAO Assistance, Capacity-building, and Training Programme for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (ICAO ACT-SAF), which establishes a framework for mutual understanding and cooperation between ICAO and its Partners. It is worth noting that mitigating the environmental and climate impact of aviation activities is one of ICAO's five strategic objectives, in line with the policies of the United Nations system. Participation in this program is of great importance to the aviation sector of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Referring to the recent statement by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Nurkhozhoyevich Japarov, on December 7, 2024, in which he expressed serious concerns about the negative environmental impact of aviation, it is important to emphasize that the ICAO Assistance, Capacity-building, and Training Programme for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (ICAO ACT-SAF) will be a significant step towards addressing the issue of environmental pollution caused by aircraft emissions.
