From November 25 to 27, 2024, Astana hosted a joint meeting of the project group for the implementation of meteorological services in the eastern part of the ICAO European region (PT/EAST/22) and the working group of the Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology of the CIS of the World Meteorological Organization (WG-4 ICH). The meeting was attended by 58 representatives from 7 countries, of which 13 representatives participated online.
The agenda included issues such as coordinating the release of SIGMET (reports on dangerous weather events) between neighboring countries, switching to a new format for transmitting IWXXM meteorological data, the capabilities of automated information systems, expanding the network of meteorological locators, training aviation meteorological personnel, and so on.
Such joint meetings are held every year, and topical issues of meteorological support for civil aviation in the CIS countries are discussed.
